Sounds unimaginable doesn’t it. Believe it or not this happens in the world.
For example, increasing numbers of children are being recruited in Burundi, including some at age 10. In Colombia, as much as 30% of some guerrilla units are made up of children. In total,
at least 300,000 children younger than 18 are taking part in more than 30 armed conflicts worldwide.
Facts like these disturb my spirit so much, to the point where I can’t even explain it in words. I’ve seen documentaries on this, & it’s made me sick to my stomach.
Some children are used for suicide missions or particularly hazardous duty, such as leading through minefields.
Minefields!? WTF!
Some of you might be wondering, with them being so small, how can they even hold a weapon like a machine gun or riffle.. Technological developments in weaponry, especially small arms, have made semiautomatic rifles light enough to be used, and simple enough to be stripped and re-assembled, by a 10-year-old child.
Thinking about situations that are going on in the world like this, make me think, pray, & appreciate every second of life. How can people even worry about foolishness when we have world wide issues such as these? Does our generation even think about things like this?
All governments, including our own, need to take the necessary steps to ensure that the most vulnerable members of society are protected from the horrors of war. How, I don’t know. But we have to be able to do something.
Just my thought of the day.
Sometimes we need a REALITY CHECK.

That is so true! Makes me think! & How do you come up w/ these thoughts? they just pop into your head? or do you experience somethin that just makes you think about certain things? But you are so right! I like reading your "thoughts of the day" keep'em comin! ;)
ReplyDeleteTo answer ⇧ , different ways, sometimes they come from experiences, or other peoples experiences and sometimes they are just random thoughts. & Thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteOh okay. & You're welcome! ;)
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately as sad as the situation is these are things that just have been happening for years that just doesn't seem like its going to change these children don't know any different than the life they have been raised so while we see it & sympathize with the situation because we know theres better out there they can't do or feel the same. Even though so many feel sorry for the situation of these kids no ones going to try to change it because it is due to the suffering of these children's lives & their hard work that people get obtain certain luxuries that otherwise would not be available to them.
ReplyDeleteLook at for instance child laborers in China who are forced sometimes from as young as the age of 4 to begin working in factories making goods & these same goods are the ones enjoyed by many Americans which make it cheap & affordable. Its an unfair world and very saddening and I agree with you especially living in a "3rd world country" to be blessed with the life I have been given
D'jai,
ReplyDeleteI completely agree! In my recent environmental/global crisis class we were discussing about things related to that and other types of extremism like children at the age of 13 14 forced into marriage and becoming child barers in india; many who don't produce sons are doused in carosine and burned because sons are superior there. Events like this make me see how good we do have it in America and adress little conflicts at a whole different perspective. Im glad that your thought of the days are so diverse because it is def good to have role models for this genertaion who are intouch with world issues!!
