Cranberry juice vs Cranberry juice cocktail

Cranberry juice or Cranberry juice cocktail, which one are you drinking?

So, I decided to write this blog because I figure a lot of young people might not have picked up on this simple fact. Cranberry Juice is good for you, it has great nutritional value. Now Cranberry juice cocktail...not so much..

The difference: Cranberry juices that are labeled 100% juice are sweetened with other fruit juices (therefor you receive benefits not only from the cranberry, but the other fruits mixed in the juice too.) instead of corn syrup, or straight cranberries.

Now Cranberry juice cocktail beverages are not 100% cranberry, they're sweetened with high-fructose corn syrup (same stuff found in soft drinks), which provide no nutritional value. So next time you pour yourself a nice big glass of cran juice, (which you probably won't, you can't drink a whole big glass of real cranberry juice cause it's thicker, every gulp is like a mouth full of cranberries. Quite sour.) make sure it's the real kind.

Here are some examples of each brand..

"Ocean Spray" (found everywhere) is usually what everybody buys, it's also used to mix drinks. This is NOT 100% cran juice.

Now this brand "Northland" makes great cranberry juice! 100%, taste great & it's good for you. You should be able to pick it up at your  regular grocery store.
